Project Story

Perfectly nestled into Newgale hill, this striking new build property was completed at the end of 2021.  Comprising of two kitchens, three bedrooms, all with en-suites and two large living areas in the centre of each storey, the home overlooks the beautiful two-mile stretch of Newgale beach.

Carreg are delighted to have been awarded the All Wales Best Individual New Home 2022 by the LABC for this project.

If required, this property can be easily split into two self-contained flats for when the current owners family and friends come to stay.  The property is certainly deceiving in size, with part of the property being constructed deep into the hill, large retaining walls were built all around to support the house against the embankment.

The brief from our client was to create a high-end forever home for themselves and their family’s future generations.  They were eager to use good quality fixtures and fittings, for example a large crittal screen with two lockable sliding doors that could separate the two floors, instant boing water Quooker tap in the kitchen and beautiful porcelain tiles, oak flooring, skirtings and architraves throughout.

The location of this build came with it’s challenges. In the summer, Newgale is one of Pembrokeshire’s busiest tourist hotspots with thousands making their way down West to set up camp. With limited access to the property and the busy winding road meant deliveries of goods had to be planned with extra care and attention. By Winter, the heavy winds and storms from the Atlantic would cause road closures and would make life on site very difficult, but throughout this time our team remained content and battled on through the elements to create this stunning and award-winning home.
