Seaside Cottage Renovation & Extension

Project Story

Client Brief –
To create a spacious and comfortable open plan space, housing a kitchen and living area, while keeping in mind the character of the building. Providing plenty of storage opportunities through an extension to the back end of the building, enabling enough space for an additional guest bedroom with en-suite.

Concept Design –
This semi-detached cottage had great potential internally but suffered from a lack of space and storage throughout, with spaces becoming cluttered and unworkable. By adding an extension to the rear of the property we were able to gain much needed space to open up the main Kitchen/Dining area.

The proposed new extension to this property ensures more privacy on entry, and the opportunity to increase the build from a 1 bed to a two bed semi-detached cottage. The new extension will house a boot bench on entry with a utility to the left, a jack and jill bathroom that will also act as the guest en-suite. The new open plan kitchen will house a large kitchen island with plenty of seating to fulfil our clients requirements for all their family to sit around when visiting. A newly constructed fireplace, with double-sided log stove will act as a room divider from kitchen to dining space.

It was important for us to keep in mind our clients traditions but by also designing a luxurious bespoke design that met the clients every needs. With such a shake up to the re-model, this layout has really started to work well and has made the space feel warm and homely once again.

We look forward to working with the client and the construction team in bringing this concept to life.
