A St David’s Extension

Project Story

Our clients wanted to extend their holiday home, creating spaces for entertaining with family.

Entering through a new stable door, a ‘boot bench’ will sit directly opposite with storage below. A new underfloor heating system provides a warm welcome, with the increased ceiling height providing a greater feeling of space and light. A contemporary glazed ‘crittall’ door will give a stylish and subtle thermal break between the lobby and kitchen, without impairing the visual flow between the two areas.

The internal proportions are transformed by a glazed extension, providing a dedicated dining area and additional circulation space as you enter from the lobby. A full height dresser cabinet provides all necessary crockery and glassware storage as the client requested, while the kitchen spatial arrangements reflect the existing kitchen design with appliances repositioned to improve efficiency.

Another glazed ‘crittall’ door and side-screen provide access to the pantry from the kitchen, complimenting the quality of the glazed extension detailing and continuing the visual flow through the kitchen.

With the complex layout of this property it was very important for us to spend some time working out the visual lines and circulation around the space, as this would need working out before the kitchen/dining area would be able to work well. With the addition of a new glazed extension, this opened up numerous opportunities in terms of space, and the introduction of the new ‘crittall’ door system helped the visual flow throughout.
